چکیده
Rye Primary Leaf, Phenylalanine Ammonia-Lyase Inhibitor, 2-Aminoindan-2-phosphonic Acid, Photosystem II Damage, Ultraviolet-B In the epidermal layers of rye primary leaves two flavone glycosides and several hydroxycinnamoyl esters are localized, whereas the mesophyll contains two flavone glucuronides and two anthocyanins. The concentrations of all these potential UV-B protective phenylpropanoid compounds could be reduced by application of 2-aminoindan-2-phosphonic acid (AIP), an efficient inhibitor of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (EC 4.1.3.5). Photosystem II in the primary leaves of seven-days-old plants, grown in the presence of 20 |̂ m AIP up to an age of 80 h, was more severely affected by UV-B than in control plants with the normal concentration of phenylpropanoid compounds. Damage of photosystem II in vivo was estimated by measuring the chlorophyll a fluorescence (parameter FJFm) of PS II. The results indicate an essential role of phenylpropanoid compounds as UV-B protectants in rye primary leaves.

متن کاملSYSTEMATIC STUDY OF SECALE CEREALE IN IRAN
Secale cereale (rye) with its vitally importance can have a marked place in the world cereal production, particularly in North Europe. This study concerns morphology, taxonomy and cytotaxonomy of this species in Iran. Based on the evaluation of 12 qualitative and quantitative morphological characters and using phenetic analysis, it was revealed that, S. cereale occurs in Iran with two subspecie...
متن کاملThe trait of transversal , yellow stripes on leaves of rye ( Secale cereale
The lethal chlorophyll mutant is described in this work. It is characterized by irregular, transversal, yellow stripes of equal width on the leaf blade of seedlings. Those seedlings usually produced 2 leaves (though at times 3 or 4), however they did not propagate and some of them died out by the end of November. The way of inheritance of this trait was defined on the basis of segregation of pl...
متن کاملEffect of growth temperature and temperature shifts on spinach leaf morphology and photosynthesis.
The growth kinetics of spinach plants (Spinacia oleracea L. cv Savoy) grown at 5 degrees C or 16 degrees C were determined to allow us to compare leaf tissues of the same developmental stage rather than chronological age. The second leaf pairs reached full expansion at a plant age of 32 and 92 days for the 16 degrees C and 5 degrees C plants, respectively. Growth at 5 degrees C resulted in an i...

Severe photoinactivation of catalase (EC 1.11.1.6) and a decline of variable fluorescence (F(v)), indicating photoinhibition of photosynthesis, were observed as rapid and specific symptoms in leaves exposed to a high heat-shock temperature of 40 degrees C as well as in leaves exposed to low chilling temperatures in white light of only moderately high photosynthetic photon flux density of 520 mu...
